Focusing

Focusing is a very important (and sometimes frustrating) part of astrophotography. SGPro provides several tools aimed at keeping you in focus with minimal effort.

Auto Focus

Auto Focus, one configured for your rig, will help you stay in focus all might long without lifting a finger. To get more information on how to configure, assign focus triggers and use Auto Focus, see here.

Manual Focus

When it's time to focus. Manual focus Reminders will pause your sequence and allow you to focus manually and when done, resume the sequence right where it left off. This is extremely useful for rigs that do not have a motorized Focuser. For more information on Manual Focus Reminders, see here.

Frame and Focus

Frame and Focus, while often used for purposes of framing a target or manually focusing the camera (hence its name) can be useful in any number of scenarios. If you have need to capture a single temporary camera image or to have the camera loop and display images without saving to disk, this is where to look.

Temperature Compensation

Dropping temperatures are the vampire of good focus. Luckily you can use SGPro's Temperature Compensation feature to slowly move your focuser over time proportional to the change in temperature. This can help you to put more space between Auto Focus runs and keep solid focus in between. For more information on Temperature Compensation and how to train SGPro to use it, see here.

Adjusting Focus Per-Filter

In a perfect world, changing between filters would not affect the focus point. In reality, they absolutely can (more expensive filter sets often claim to be parfocal) and this functionality can help compensate for that change in focus without requiring a full Auto Focus run.
